It was overcast and had some light rain. No big deal, just wish it was a bit nicer out.
I headed for Anchorage on Parks Highway. I was hoping it was a bit better than the alaska Highway. A nice valley view. already it's better. you could see pretty far across the valley, and i bet on a clear day you could see further.
as you can see, overcast but the views were nice. always passing creeks, streams and rivers between mountains.

i rode to the denali visitor center and asked about riding to the end of the trail. only their tourbuses go there up there, and i didn't want to spent entry fee to the park and then take a long tour with a bunch of tourists complaining about this and that. i guess i'm a bit anti-social, but it think it's that i just don't like the majority of tourists. I love talking to the local people though, they're the interesting folk.
we talked about munching leaves and i took pictures mostly.

proof that i was there. i didn't gain weight, it's the helmet that pushes on my cheeks.

I had pulled over because a bird flew at me and hit me in the foot and bounced off my boot. It was a light hit, so i hope i didn't hurt or kill it.

Leaving the visitor center, there were people standing around taking pictures of something behind the porta-potty's. I had to go that way to get to my bike, so i went the other way around the porta-johns and this is where i met a Mandy, a local...
Now we start the Mountain picture porn. it's pretty much all i dd for the rest of the day. Ride, take pictures, ride, take pictures while riding... etc.
the pics are small in size, but you'll get the 'picture'. heh. seriously, you have to be there to experience the mountains. i've been through the rockies of BC/Alberta, but this is different for some reason. maybe it's all the snow.

love the reflection.

not many mountains here, but you can see the weather was gettng better and the clouds clearing up.

no mountains, but i liked how the clouds looked in this one.

obligatory bike pic

a lookout with Denali (Mt Mckinley)

damn clouds. you can barely see it as it's all white and behind these mountains (i think anyhow)

at the same locaiton there was a WWII memorial. touching.

Pulled over for gas since the GPS said next gas station was 98 miles away. I had less than 1/3 tank left so i wouldn't have made it. Turns out the GPS lied as there were quite a few gas stations along the way.

This is a neat little all in one shop at Trapper Creek. I spoke to a guy there for quite a while about all things, alaska, coffee, politics... but i had to move on since i wanted a place for the night in or around anchorage.
Kept riding on unil i got the the Mat-Su area. I was looking for a washroom but found this instead. a war memorial of all who died nearby and those that are from nearby.
Keep going man. Loving the trip. Thanks for taking me along.
